I find photography to be a uniquely satisfying outlet for my creativity. Not only does the digital aspect of it provide an opportunity to fine-tune an area of my computer skills, but it allows me to capture little pieces of reality through my camera lens. I get to be in the middle of the action, create lasting memories for my clients, and work with lots of interesting people along the way.

My journey as a digital photographer began when my parents helped me buy my Nikon D50 camera as a high-school graduation gift. This gave me the opportunity to start learning the basics. After doing some informal shoots and teaching myself some basic image editing, I decided to take a Photography class at Oakland Community College. That step significantly opened my horizons by getting me up to speed with Photoshop and giving me a more substantial foundation for my work. Since then, I have worked with an expanding group of friends and family, doing portrait shoots as well as graduation parties, weddings, and many other things.

For me, this is not just a hobby, but a way of displaying God's glory. The Bible says that man is created in God's image, and also that "creation declares the glory of God." I believe that people are "hard-wired" to respond to all forms of beauty in creation because of our inherant desire for God. When we look at a beautiful picture, we are drawn to it because we are seeing a tiny glimmer of a reflection of God's image. The goal of my photography is to capture this reflection through my photos of people, their celebrations, and anything else I encounter. Though it may be "seeing through a glass darkly," my hope is that the pictures I take ultimately bring honor to the One who created it all.
